Les Demoiselles de Montpellier.

tea room

Les Demoiselles de Montpellier is a warm, welcoming tea room in the city center, entirely gluten-free and dairy-free — with most options also egg-free and vegan. It was created by Lélia, who, after being diagnosed with a dairy intolerance, found there were almost no places where she could eat out without anxiety. Her answer was a cozy spot where people with allergies, intolerances, or a vegan lifestyle — as well as anyone who simply loves fresh, healthy food — can enjoy eating out again without feeling singled out. Everything is homemade by the pastry chef using AFDIAG-certified gluten-free flours, and around 70% of the ingredients are organic.

The heart of the place is its homemade pastries, and the menu follows the seasons, changing regularly with the fruit and inspiration of the moment. Counter treats include banana bread nocciolata, matcha-passionfruit cake, pistachio-raspberry muffins, marbled ube cake, chocolate fondant, and a lemon and white chocolate cookie, while the display case tempts with creations like a cherry clafoutis tartlet, a fraisier, and a basque-style coffee-hazelnut "cheesecake." Each item clearly lists its allergens, so you can choose with complete peace of mind.

Open every afternoon from Monday to Sunday, the tea room is run by a friendly, food-loving team. There's also a gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan brunch every Saturday (except in summer) from 11:30 to 2:00 — by reservation until 12:30, then first-come, first-served until 2:00 or until everything sells out. It's a place to slow down, share a good moment with friends, and rediscover the simple pleasure of eating well.
