Le Salon des Indépendants.

music club

Le Salon des Indépendants is a live performance venue in Montpellier, putting on cultural events every single day: concerts, DJ sets, a comedy club, jams and open mics, exhibitions, and more. Now settled in the Beaux-Arts neighbourhood on rue Lunaret, it has spent its first years championing the local music scene — first at the Faubourg du Courreau, then at Beaux-Arts — and shows no sign of slowing down. Open Monday to Saturday from the early evening into the small hours, it's a place built around discovery, sharing, and the energy of live performance.

The programming is gloriously eclectic, spanning just about every genre you could hope to hear. A typical month might run from salsa nights and groove-fuelled "Jams du Salon" to rap parties with live sets and open mic, drum'n'bass and bass music, Caribbean rhythms, Afro shatta and Afrobeat tropical grooves, freestyle rap cyphers, Latin grooves, electro and techno, nu-jazz, dub, cumbia and folklore, plus theatre and improv shows. Every Tuesday brings the Salon Comedy Club, an hour and more of back-to-back stand-up, and the walls regularly host exhibitions alongside the music.

With its daily rhythm, its open-minded booking, and its genuine commitment to emerging and independent artists, Le Salon des Indépendants is a warm, vibrant hub for anyone wanting to catch a concert, a DJ set, or a comedy night out in the heart of Montpellier — a true home for the city's living, ever-changing cultural scene.
