NOCTURNE 2 is the second instalment of MUTEK Montréal 2026's core Nocturne series, taking place across two floors of the Société des arts technologiques (SAT): Espace SAT and the immersive Satosphère dome. The night moves through varied intensities of contemporary electronic music and audio-visual performance.
On Espace SAT, Japanese collective ELECTRONICOS FANTASTICOS! — led by Ei Wada — transforms salvaged electronics such as CRT televisions and fans into playable instruments for a folkloric, DIY orchestral performance. Montreal duo Jump Source (Patrick Holland and Francis Latreille, also known as Priori) present their debut album "Fold" (2026), combining club anthems with eclectic pop collaborations. Swiss-French composer Noémi Büchi performs "Exuvie" (Canadian premiere), an electroacoustic meditation on transformation and memory. Club and hyperpop producer Zora Jones, co-founder of the Fractal Fantasy label, delivers a world premiere set previewing her first album in five years.
In the Satosphère dome, four audio-visual world premieres are presented. Light artist Arbor and Taiwanese sound artist Tzu Ni present "Diffusion", a live A/V work exploring light and embodied sound. Toronto's Korea Town Acid and Montreal's Ajeebsir collaborate on "Zero Gravity". Montreal new-media artists Allison Moore and Isabella Salas (MOORE + SALAS) debut "UMWELT", an immersive dome piece. Visual and media artist Nelly-Eve Rajotte presents "Les arbres communiquent entre eux à 220 Hertz", exploring non-human perception through LiDAR, biosensors and AI.
