Dzaïr er eit musikalsk og poetisk prosjekt av Sofiane Saïdi som reiser gjennom det kollektive minnet i Middelhavet, og vev saman dei algeriske og franske kysten. Repertoaret beveger seg på tvers av språk, erindingar, havsduftane, lyset i byane, og spor av eksil.
For Sofiane Saïdi — kjend som Prinsen av Raï 2.0 og feira for samarbeid med Acid Arab, Rodolphe Burger, Ammar 808, Malik Djoudi og Camélia Jordana — er Middelhavet ikkje ei grense men eit rom for rørsle, møte og delt historie. Dzaïr er rotfest i denne intime geografien forma av Algeria, Frankrike og dei fram-og-attende korsingane som skapar ei identitet i stadig rørsle.
Kvar låt i programmet er ei originalkomposisjon som byggjer på muntleg tradisjon, forteljinga og samfunnsliva i raï, og eit stramt musikalskt språk fokusert på det vesentlege. Kvar tekst ber med seg si eiga historie.
Ensemblet består av Sofiane Saïdi på vokal, maskiner og keyboard, saman med Théo Ceccaldi på fiolin, Valentin Ceccaldi på cello, og Tao Ehrlich på trommeslaget.
