Opened in March 2026 by Mireille, La Rose de Damas is a charming little Syrian tea room in the heart of the Écusson, on rue Saint-Guilhem, with seating for around twenty guests. It serves authentic, homestyle Syrian cuisine — the kind that tastes like it was lovingly made by your own mother — in a warm, welcoming setting. At lunchtime you can tuck into a Syrian plate for €12, bringing together hummus, eggplant caviar, labneh, and za'atar and cheese manakish.
The tea room is just as much about its drinks and sweets. Signature creations include the namesake Rose de Damas (black tea with hot milk, honey, and rose water), a tahini-and-date latte, and an orange-blossom latte, set beside cardamom-scented Arabic coffee, espressos, cappuccino, and mint or black tea, with a plant-milk option available. For dessert, treat yourself to traditional Syrian pastries such as baklava, pistachio baklava, halawet el jben, namoura, and maamoul (note that all the pastries contain gluten, milk, and nuts).
With its heartfelt cooking, fragrant rose-infused specialties, and cozy atmosphere, La Rose de Damas is a lovely spot to slow down and taste a little piece of Damascus right in central Montpellier.
